I’m still working to bring our community together through some form of a private social network. One of the main reasons I moved here was for the sense of community. In my video business, many of my clients were associations with very active social interaction, and I hoped to recreate that here.
I realize now that most of our residents are busy living their lives, and participation naturally varies. Our meetings usually draw 12 to 20 residents, and I’ve really enjoyed helping with our Second Saturday gatherings and other events. Several people have suggested adding more activities like card groups, board games, or dining outings.
Unfortunately, the two existing Facebook pages don’t reach everyone, and a Facebook alternative I tested wasn’t very user-friendly. I still believe we can find a simple, private way for residents who want to connect socially to communicate and coordinate activities on a shared calendar. I’m currently exploring another option that only requires an email address to join while keeping everything private.
Thanks for your support
