I’m still working to bring our community together through some form of a private social network. One of the reasons I moved here was for the sense of community. I’ve really enjoyed helping with our Second Saturday gatherings, creating the flyers and help with events.
I realize now that most of our residents are busy living their lives, are seasonal, and participation naturally varies. Our events usually draw 12 to 24 residents.
Unfortunately, the two existing Facebook pages don’t reach everyone, and many have said they refuse to use Facebook. I'm working on an alternative using group Google Space Chat which can be private to owners connection with nothing but your email to participate. This will allow Facebook like chats and comments along with a calendar for neighbors to schedule social events like card or board games groups, or dining outings.
A few neighbors are helping edit and review so we can keep improving this site for the benefit of our community
